The Saddleback@ATEP project is a new 50,000-square-foot, single-story instructional complex comprising two specialized buildings that will house Saddleback College’s Culinary Arts and Advanced Transportation programs. Designed with sustainability and student engagement in mind, the campus will serve as a modern hub for hands-on learning, innovation, and community connection.
Building A – Culinary Arts (20,000 SF):
This facility includes four state-of-the-art commercial teaching kitchens and a student-operated restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating for approximately 70 guests. A student-run coffee bar and an expansive outdoor herb garden will further enrich the learning environment. The building also includes administrative offices and ample storage. It is fully sprinklered and equipped with an emergency voice/fire alarm communication system.
Building B – Advanced Transportation (30,000 SF):
Home to cutting-edge automotive technology education, this building features a large automotive shop with 14 lifts, a radar calibration lab, four classrooms (one lecture-based and three hands-on), a glass-enclosed conference room, and an exterior 15,000-square-foot service yard enclosed by an architectural wall for vehicle storage and supplies. It also includes administrative offices and storage space, with full fire safety and communication systems.
The buildings are oriented to harness natural ventilation, feature 252 kW of photovoltaic panels to reduce energy consumption, and are equipped with electric heating and cooling systems to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. Designed with a blend of architectural block, metal panels, and glass, the facilities incorporate a striking "S" shaped metal roof that complements the neighboring IVC IDEA Building.
